Hybrid van carrier put into operation

At HHLA Container Terminal Tollerort (CTT), two van carriers with environmentally friendly hybrid drive systems have recently started transporting boxes between ship, warehouse, railroad station and truck gate. The two prototypes are said to consume at least 15 percent less diesel than their predecessors.

In the run-up to truck handling at logistics hubs such as port terminals, fluctuating handling times are the rule - often with unacceptable dwell times. Planning uncertainties prevent optimal scheduling. A solution co-developed by the Fraunhofer Center for Maritime Logistics and Services (CML) can change this.
