Settlement in Leipzig
Thyssenkrupp rents 15,000 square meters in the new coreport logistics building
Thyssenkrupp Automotive Systems GmbH is moving into around 15,000 square meters in the new coreport logistics building currently under construction by investor intaurus. The building, which has a total usable area of around 20,000 square meters, is due to open in mid-2019. thyssenkrupp plans to create 180 jobs here.
"The decisive factor for this location decision was the immediate proximity to BMW production. As a long-standing partner, it is important for us to dovetail our logistics processes closely with BMW's production timelines," explains Thorsten Kunath, project manager at thyssenkrupp. "In addition, thanks to the early conclusion of the contract with intaurus, we can incorporate some structural changes so that the property corresponds 100 percent to our process flows," Kunath continues. The response to the rental agreement from intaurus has also been very positive. "We are delighted to have gained a traditional and established company as a long-term tenant," says Hans-Wolfgang Niedermair, Managing Director of intaurus.
Since the beginning of October, the excavators have been rolling in the Leipzig-Nord industrial park and the earthworks for the new logistics building have begun. "This new building complements our offering here in Leipzig. We already have another building with 17,000 m² of usable space next door, which houses BMW's training center, among other things. Smaller spaces are available both in the new building and in our existing property," explains Hans-Wolfgang Niedermair, Managing Director of intaurus. The new complex will have twenty ramp doors and six sectional doors at ground level, offering tenants flexible access options. Certification by the DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council) is planned.
The transport links to the sites are very good. The Leipzig-Messegelände freeway junction on the A14 is one kilometer away, and the airport is 19 kilometers away.
