ZIA: Storage demand increases in the time after Corona
The German Property Federation (ZIA), the umbrella organization of the real estate industry, is forecasting increased demand for warehouse and logistics capacity after the coronavirus crisis.
"Currently, ongoing production cannot be sold or temporarily stored due to a lack of capacity. Similarly, in non-food retail in particular, products that are coming in but hardly flowing out due to the ban on sales in stores have to be stored," says Dr. Thomas Steinmüller, Chairman of the ZIA Logistics Real Estate Committee. "In the post-crisis period, the lessons learned from the crisis will lead to the build-up of significant safety stocks in all areas - both consumer and industrial - in order to prevent disruptions or even collapses in the supply chains."
Investors in this area play an important role and can already take action today - with significantly lower risk premiums. "These investments are an important and urgent contribution to the restart and recovery of the economy as a whole," says Steinmüller.
