Fiege develops former Zalando site into a multi-user center
The Brieselang location near Berlin has a long-term perspective: Fiege took over the logistics center from Zalando in April and announced plans to develop the branch into a multi-user center. In October, the e-commerce business of fashion label Gerry Weber will move into Brieselang, followed by fashion group Mango in mid-2020. Zalando will also remain a customer of the Fiege location in Brieselang.
Continued existence of the site secured beyond mid-2020
The logistics center with 75,000 square meters of logistics space had become too small for Zalando. Around 1,000 employees currently work in Brieselang, and the majority of the workforce already have their jobs secured beyond mid-2020.
"We are pleased that we have succeeded in convincing more customers of this location", said Christoph Mangelmans, Managing Director Omnichannel Retail at Fiege. Last week, the employees in Brieselang were informed of the plans for the future. "These positive developments will secure the continued existence of the location beyond mid-2020. It was our declared and common goal with Zalando to achieve this for our great colleagues in Brieselang."
A well-established team for new challenges
"The new business ensures that we can continue to work here with a well-established and experienced team and I am looking forward to the new challenges", said branch manager Robert Fix, who transferred from Zalando to Fiege with his colleagues. "New customers always mean new processes and increased complexity", Christoph Mangelmans describes the upcoming tasks. "We want to accommodate even more customers in the multi-user center and further develop Brieselang."
