Logistics service provider expands
Fiege builds at the port of Emmerich
The logistics company Fiege is settling at the port of Emmerich, one of the three members of the DeltaPort Niederrheinhäfen association. The company plans to create 64,000 square meters of logistics space on a 12.5-hectare site.
From Emmerich, Fiege wants to serve all sales channels for its customers and ship goods for stationary, mobile and online retail. Three Fiege warehouses are currently under construction in Emmerich and are scheduled to go into operation at the end of the year. In a second construction phase, a further hall area is to be built in the near future. Among other things, the logistics company will benefit from a huge area without contaminated sites as well as the trimodal transport connections offered by the location on the Rhine. "The new site in Emmerich is of strategic importance to us. Especially because it offers optimal conditions for the multi-channel requirements of our customers", says Jan Fiege, Managing Director Real Estate Development at Fiege.
Significance for the location
The establishment of the logistics company Fiege is of great importance for the city: "In addition to other well-known logistics companies such as BLG with a 15-hectare site and the freight forwarder Convent, which is currently building its second site in Emmerich, Fiege strengthens our logistics location enormously," says Udo Jessner, Managing Director of Emmerich Port. The settlement brings added value through new jobs, taxes and orders.
