Expo Real 2019: Around 46,000 visitors

Expo Real was pleased to welcome more participants than ever before, with around 46,000 people attending the real estate fair. Technology companies are a growth driver at the trade fair, and the focus was on affordable housing.

"2,190 exhibitors from 45 countries, more than 46,000 participants from 76 countries, another hall opened: Expo Real 2019 was bigger and more international than ever," reports Klaus Dittrich, CEO, Messe München. "The strong participation reflects the positive expectations of the real estate industry for this year." At the same time, the industry is working intensively on innovations to simplify processes and present new market solutions. With the newly opened Hall NOVA3, Expo Real has created a central platform for this. "We are impressed by how well this new offering has been received."

"We need more courage for digitalization."
"Digitalization strategies are no longer dreams of the future, they are now clearly reflected in companies' budgets," reports Christian Schulz-Wulkow, Head of Real Estate, Hospitality & Construction Sector in Germany, Switzerland and Austria at EY. His company presented a corresponding study. He adds: "We need even more courage for digitalization. The order of the day is data standardization, collaboration and data exchange so that the intelligent evaluation of data can be used profitably."

Economic prospects and affordable housing
At the trade fair, the development of the real estate market was discussed intensively in forums and at the trade fair stands. The topic of affordable housing was also very present. The interaction between politics and business and measures ranging from rent caps to urban densification were discussed intensively.
