JadeWeserPort deep-water port
Panattoni Europe hands over packaging center to VW
Panattoni Europe, project developer for industrial and logistics real estate, has completed a packaging center for the export of car parts at the deep-water port of Wilhelmshaven for the VW Group on schedule. The logistics center was handed over to main tenant Audi on 27 and 28 March.
12,000 containers per year possible
The VW Group delivers around 7,000 different vehicle parts from the new packaging center. Headlights, steering wheels and audio systems are sent to overseas production sites, including in Argentina, Mexico, the USA and China. Panattoni Europe designed a logistics center with five halls to DGNB Gold standard for the loading and unloading, storage and picking of parts and components. Around 12,000 containers per year can be delivered from the new center.
Start immediately after handover
Construction on the 100,000 square meter site at JadeWeserPort began in June 2018. Operations began immediately after the handover, with early access to the entire hall area for the installation of racking and other required systems being made possible at the beginning of February.
Fred Markus Bohne, Managing Partner of Panattoni Europe, emphasized: "The cooperation with the Volkswagen Group and those responsible for the JadeWeserPort was exemplary. We would like to express our sincere thanks for this. The project shows once again that we are able to guarantee short completion periods and handover dates despite increasingly complex approval processes and requirements and despite tight construction capacities in the market."
