Driving ahead puts digitalization in the transport sector on the agenda
Hanau, 30.08.2018 - Tire manufacturer Goodyear heralded the next round of the expert talk "Driving Ahead". The latest panel discussion took place as part of a future forum on the digital service offerings of Goodyear Proactive Solutions. Around 40 decision-makers from large commercial vehicle fleets from Germany, Austria and Switzerland attended the event.
The digitalization of the transport sector was the subject of controversial discussion. Topics included Germany as a logistics location and future digital solutions. The role of logistics start-ups was also debated. The participants in the discussion had different answers to the question "Is Germany lagging behind as a logistics location when it comes to digitalization?". André Weisz, Managing Director of Goodyear Proactive Solutions and CEO of Ventech Systems, believes that German transport companies are currently in an extremely rapid race to catch up. The focus is increasingly shifting from expanding capacity to increasing efficiency - which can be achieved primarily through digital solutions.
Felix Wiegand, CEO of the comparison and booking platform Pamyra from Leipzig, sees food and automotive logistics at the forefront of digitalization within the industry. The experts saw the fragmentation of systems as one of the difficulties for digitalization in logistics. Countless different systems are used, but they are not compatible with each other and integrating solutions are often lacking. mm
