Vectura systems create capacity for peak loads
Swisslog gets high-bay warehouse for Lebkuchen-Schmidt on track
Swisslog has successfully completed the installation of six Vectura storage and retrieval machines in Lebkuchen-Schmidt's new central logistics hub in Nuremberg. The project has thus reached a milestone on the way to the planned commissioning of the distribution center at the beginning of 2027.
One year after the start of the project, Swisslog and Lebkuchen-Schmidt have completed the installation of six Vectura storage and retrieval machines in the new distribution center in Nuremberg. The high-bay warehouse has around 24,400 storage locations at a height of 35 meters and is designed to meet the company's various seasonal requirements - from export business in summer to peak loads during the Christmas season.
Automated pallet management is ensured by four double-deep and two multi-deep Vectura S32 storage and retrieval machines. The SynQ warehouse management system controls all manual, semi-automated and fully automated processes and integrates conveyor technology and an AutoStore system for the e-commerce business, among other things. Kirill Heidt, Logistics and Site Manager at Lebkuchen-Schmidt, comments: "This system is a key component in securing the future of our logistics operations. It will enable us to make our processes considerably more efficient and effective."
"This milestone demonstrates our strength: we deliver integrated solutions for complex logistics requirements," says Markus Kirchhoff, Senior Vice President Sales & Accounts EMEA, Swisslog. "At Lebkuchen-Schmidt, we combine Vectura for reliable pallet management, AutoStore for high e-commerce throughput and SynQ to control all processes. The result is a system that is equipped for the coming decades."
The new logistics center bundles six previously decentralized warehouse locations and is intended to strengthen more efficient processes, further e-commerce growth and the Nuremberg location in the long term. In addition to the storage and retrieval machines, conveyor technology solutions and an AutoStore system with around 17,000 containers will be used. The distribution center is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2027.
