Completion planned for the end of the year
Kuehne + Nagel celebrates topping-out ceremony for new headquarters
Kühne + Nagel is getting a new headquarters in Bremen. The topping-out ceremony for the new August Kühne building was celebrated last week.
The celebrations took place in the presence of the Mayor of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen, Dr. Carsten Sieling, and the majority shareholder of the Kühne + Nagel Group, Klaus-Michael Kühne. The building, which is scheduled for completion at the end of the year, will provide space for 725 employees. In addition, the management of the German Kuehne + Nagel organization will be based in the August-Kühne-Haus.
The new head office is being built at a historically significant location for Kuehne + Nagel: it is on the same site as the von Kapff House, which was acquired by August Kuehne in 1909 and was completely destroyed in the Second World War. The first August Kühne House, built on the same site in 1960, had to make way for the new building around two years ago.
Klaus Michael Kühne: "The construction of the new August-Kühne-Haus is a significant event in the 129-year history of Kühne + Nagel in Bremen. With the completion of the building shell, an important milestone has now been reached and I would like to thank everyone involved in the construction for their excellent work. This location has historical significance for us, as the headquarters of the seaport forwarding company founded in 1890 by my grandfather August Kühne and his partner Friedrich Nagel was already located on the Weser 110 years ago."
