Segro begins construction of new logistics park in Oberhausen

Logistics real estate developer SEGRO has started construction of the first 40,000 square meters of warehouse and logistics space in the new SEGRO Logistics Park Oberhausen. Planning permission has already been granted.

Completion of the space is scheduled for the second quarter of 2019. SEGRO acquired the site in the Holten district in October last year. Together with the first construction phase, which has now begun, the park's entire infrastructure is also being built. Once completed, the park will have a total rental area of around 110,000 square meters.

The start of construction follows the pre-letting of the 40,000 square meters to the logistics provider GEODIS. GEODIS is one of the world's and Europe's leading supply chain operators and part of SNCF Logistics, a division of the SNCF Group. GEODIS ranks fourth in Europe and seventh worldwide among logistics service providers.

GEODIS has 14 branches in Germany, all of which are ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certified. With a total storage area of currently more than 220,000 square meters, GEODIS serves customers from a wide range of industries.

"We are delighted that GEODIS, one of the leading logistics service providers, has chosen Oberhausen. SEGRO's new logistics park with its modern space will further strengthen Oberhausen as a business location. This underlines the attractiveness of the city for logistics companies, which benefit from the optimal transport connections and short distances," says Daniel Schranz, Lord Mayor of Oberhausen.

The SEGRO Logistics Park Oberhausen is located in the immediate vicinity of the Oberhausen freeway junction (A2/A3) and thus offers future tenants optimal transport connections. The park also offers access to the Port of Duisburg.
