Goodman hands over giant warehouse to home24

After around seven months of construction, the real estate group Goodman has completed a new logistics center in Star Park Halle. The property was built for home24, the leading online mail order company for home & living. The 70,000 m² logistics property is the largest facility in home24's history in Germany. The company chose Halle as a location partly due to its excellent transport infrastructure.

Following logistics facilities in Ludwigsfelde near Berlin and Walsrode (Lower Saxony), the property in Star Park Halle is already the third property developed by Goodman for home24. The 70,000 m² logistics facility, which was built on a plot of more than 133,000 m², is the largest logistics center that home24 has put into operation in Germany to date.

home24 is the leading "pure play" home & living e-commerce platform in continental Europe and Brazil. The portfolio of more than 100,000 products includes furniture and furnishings for all rooms and the garden. In Europe, the company delivers its products - regardless of size and weight - free of charge to its customers' homes and offers free returns. More than 1,000 employees worldwide work for the company, which is headquartered in Berlin.

"Thanks to the new logistics center in Halle, we can organize the storage and delivery of our products even more efficiently," says Christoph Cordes, Co-CEO of home24. "We have thus created an important prerequisite for ensuring continued strong growth and strengthening our market position. On behalf of the entire Management Board, I would like to thank everyone involved for the excellent cooperation in the realization of the project and the constructive support."

The Halle location is characterized by its infrastructure with a direct freeway connection to the A 14. With its proximity to the second largest German freight airport Leipzig/Halle and a connection to the rail network, the region is linked to central transport routes for the multimodal transport of goods. Goodman has been active at this location for many years. In 2015, the Group developed a logistics property of around 28,000 m² for eBay Enterprise. This was followed in 2016 by a 22,000 m² logistics center for Hellmann Worldwide Logistics. With the additional space at Star Park, Goodman now manages over 400,000 m² of space in one of Germany's most important logistics regions.

Markus Meyer, Head of Northern Germany at Goodman, explains: "The first-class infrastructure and the location of Star Park Halle help to promote national and international business activities. This is why Halle, with its proximity to Leipzig, is playing an increasingly important role for companies operating throughout Europe. This is just one of the reasons why we have been investing here for a long time. Further project developments in the region are already being planned."
