Utility vehicles: Iveco announces X-Way light construction site truck

Madrid, 09.06.2017 - A completely new series for construction site logistics on and off the road expands Iveco's already extensive range. The new X-WAY is the perfect construction solution for the road with occasional off-road requirements. The pre-presentation took place at the Madrid plant on the occasion of an award ceremony for the plant.

Madrid has achieved the gold level in the internationally standardized WCM production process. Yesterday, the World Class Manufacturing (WCM) gold medal ceremony was held at the Madrid plant. In attendance were Sergio Marchionne, Chairman CNH Industrial, Richard Tobin, Chief Executive Officer CNH Industrial and the entire CNH Industrial Board of Directors. This event was an opportunity to introduce a new product that will be launched on the European markets in September. The X-WAY will be used in light off-road applications where maximum payload is required. The combination of fuel-saving technologies and a best-in-class payload despite its robust design makes the XWAY an interesting all-rounder in the construction business Pierre Lahutte, IVECO Brand President, said in his speech: "The Stralis X-WAY is entering new terrain with very special requirements. Built on the renowned robust Trakker chassis, the X-WAY will offer the latest fuel-efficient technology and safety features from the new Stralis. This makes it a combination of the best of two worlds: the comfort of the Stralis XP and the work capacity of Iveco's robust off-road vehicles. With the X-WAY, our customers have the guarantee of being immune to even the most surprising pitfalls of the "last mile" in construction site logistics. The XWAY delivers what customers expect: high productivity, safety and excellent TCO.

The Stralis X-WAY is designed to push the boundaries when it comes to tare weight. Combined with the robust frame, the result is a vehicle in the construction spectrum that offers the most of what the customer needs: Payload. In one of the most widely used versions, the 8x4, the Super Loader (SL) will offer a chassis weight of less than 9 tons. This should make it the class leader. The extended range of efficient engines with three different displacements (9, 11 and 13 liters) enables tailor-made solutions for all requirements. What they all have in common is fuel efficiency and powerful engine characteristics. In addition to its efficiency benefits, Hi-SCR without exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) also means that disruptive and expensive downtimes for filter regeneration are avoided. As these vehicles often operate in urban areas, avoiding this smoke-intensive process is a real advantage. Availability increases and maintenance costs fall. In addition, the elimination of the EGR system is part of the weight reduction.

Advanced technology, long service intervals and durability result in lower maintenance and repair costs. Disc brakes also play their part. All this, together with fuel efficiency, results in the lowest TCO (total cost of ownership). HICRUISE, intelligent auxiliary units and all the other features from the Stralis XP have led to TÜV SÜD-certified improvements of up to 11.2% in fuel consumption. The modular, application-based design of the X-WAY series provides maximum flexibility to turn a vehicle into a specific tool for each customer. The spectrum ranges from chassis and tractor units, each with different axle types, suspensions, engines and transmissions, to a variety of power take-offs. A hydrostatic drive (Hi-Traction) is also available in this series. The vehicles are manufactured at the Madrid plant. It is the first plant in the CNH Industrial Group to be awarded the Gold Level in the World Class Manufacturing (WCM) program. WCM is a multi-pillar system for evaluating integrated management processes in the production process. The Stralis X-WAY will be available via the IVECO dealer network from September 2017. The official launch will take place at Solutrans. This trade fair will be held from November 21 to 25 in Lyon (Eurexpo) and will focus on road and urban transportation. The Stralis X-WAY will take part in the "International Truck of the Year 2018" award, the most prestigious award for commercial vehicles. red
