Rescue lane scenario: DVR offers simulator stress test

Berlin/Frankfurt, 29.08.2018 - Drivers can undergo a simulator stress test free of charge at the IAA Commercial Vehicles. The German Road Safety Council (DVR) is offering two driving simulators from Berlin-based manufacturer SiFaT Road Safety in a passenger car or an Actros cab to simulate operational scenarios that are normally used to prepare rescue drivers for their missions. The DVR (open-air area NWM, north of Hall 26) will be focusing on the topic of rescue lanes at this year's trade fair.

DVR spokeswoman Julia Fohmann explains: "Even those who don't normally drive a fire engine can experience first-hand the stress that rescue drivers are exposed to when other road users don't remember to form a rescue lane, for example."

The aim of the campaign is to help raise awareness of safe and efficient driving. One simulator variant is based on a car cockpit, while the other is a complete mobile training center built into a special swap body. The drivers drive in an original Actros cab from Mercedes-Benz.

About the DVR:
The German Road Safety Council (DVR) was founded in 1969 and is committed to road safety issues. With more than 200 member organizations, the association promotes measures to improve the safety of all road users. It focuses on issues of human behavior, vehicle technology, infrastructure, traffic law, traffic monitoring and traffic medicine. mm
