IAA Commercial Vehicles: MAN Truck & Bus presents all-electric distribution truck

Berlin, 12.07.2018 - At a pre-press conference in Berlin, MAN Truck & Bus gave an outlook on the IAA Commercial Vehicles in Hanover in September. MAN will primarily be presenting its developments in the fields of electromobility, digitalization and autonomous driving in the truck and bus sector.

In addition to an all-electric distribution truck, the MAN eTGM, the MAN eTGE, a battery-electric version of the new MAN van, will also be presented. MAN is thus one of the first manufacturers to present fully electric solutions for city logistics between 3 and 26 tons.

For Joachim Drees, CEO of MAN Truck & Bus AG, this is the most important area of application for electrically powered commercial vehicles: "eTrucks can make the most of their strengths in an urban environment. They are locally emission-free and therefore contribute to improving city air quality. They are also very quiet - so in future, for example, deliveries to supermarkets could be made at night."

MAN is also focusing on electric drives for city buses. MAN has therefore entered into development partnerships with Munich, Hamburg, Wolfsburg, Luxembourg and Paris to gather everyday experience. This experience is to be incorporated into series development. A prototype of the MAN Lion's City E will also be on show for the first time at this year's IAA. mm
