Transportation management
Digitally streamlined with Timocom
The Codognotto Group uses Timocom's Smart Logistics System directly via its own transport management system (TMS) SGA. Using an interface developed by the software company SIMA and Timocom, the freight offers of one of Italy's largest logistics groups can now be published automatically in the Timocom system.
The solution represents a turbo effect for the company's own TMS SGA for awarding transport contracts. "See you in the future" - being a pioneer and always offering customers the best solution on the market - this is what the Codognotto Group claims for itself. "We want to offer our customers a constant competitive advantage by providing them with the latest technologies to optimize their supply chain as quickly as possible," explains Andrea Condotta, Marketing and Innovation Manager of the Group.
Countering complexity with digitalization
The Italian group, one of the leading European companies in the transport and logistics sector according to the company, has been using the Smart Logistics System from the German IT company Timocom for several years now. Codognotto uses all digitalization options to "streamline" operational tasks with the help of the Timocom system - from the logistics network with over 40,000 verified companies throughout Europe to solutions for transport tenders. "Digitalization is a way for us to manage the growing complexity in our sector and always offer our customers the fastest and most efficient solutions," Andrea Condotta continues.
Synchronously placed orders
By linking their systems, Timocom and the Italian software company SIMA have enabled the Codognotto Group to increase the efficiency of its own logistics and transport processes. With its own TMS SGA, all transports can now be synchronized via an interface so that they are automatically placed on the digital European logistics market.
The challenge of growth
Due to the constant and progressive increase in transport volumes, the Codognotto Group had to expand its fleet management with trusted freight carriers as partners. The company's own fleet consists of 600 tractor units and 1,500 semi-trailers of various types. Previously, transports that could not be assigned automatically via the TMS SGA had to be laboriously entered manually into the Timocom Smart Logistics system by Codognotto employees. This took up valuable time and also entailed the risk of transmission errors.
Direct access to central functions
Thanks to the collaboration between the software company SIMA and the IT and data specialist Timocom, an interface has been developed that allows Codognotto to use the most important functions of the Timocom system directly from its own TMS SGA. This means that the transport orders entered in the TMS SGA are automatically transferred to the Timocom system via this interface - customer data protection is of course guaranteed in the process.
Implementation at 16 locations
The integration, which has already taken place in 16 of the Group's European locations, has given Codognotto a fundamental efficiency advantage when it comes to awarding contracts. Codognotto's goal is to enable all 30 European branches currently connected to Timocom to synchronize freight offers exclusively via the interface with the TMS SGA. Via this interface, the freight offers are automatically synchronized between the two systems. This allows Codognotto to use all the intelligent applications of the Timocom system within its own TMS SGA without any limits and in real time.
Save costs and time
Codognotto has fully integrated the Timocom system into its TMS SGA to ensure that transport orders only go to the best available partners on the market. Real-time synchronization eliminates both duplicate and manual order management between the two systems. The new efficient solution has resulted in a significant increase in speed. "Since introducing the interface with the SGA software house, we have been able to make significant time and cost savings and have at least doubled the number of transport orders entered in some locations," says Andrea Condotta, drawing a positive balance.
