SKF Logistics Services increases storage capacity
SKF, the world's leading supplier of rolling bearings, seals, lubrication systems and mechatronic components, is expanding its warehouse logistics to include an automated small parts warehouse (AS/RS) from Egemin Automation for handling its lightweight products. With the new system, the company is now organizing the intralogistics processes in its European distribution center in Tongeren, Belgium, even more efficiently and economically. The new system thus supports the growth of the Swedish mechanical engineering company and strengthens its expertise in the e-commerce sector. The system has been in operation since the beginning of the year. The warehouse has space for a total of five storage and retrieval machines. Four have already been installed. This allows SKF to remain flexible. An additional plus: the shelves are designed for goods weighing up to 50 kg, so that even heavy products can be transported easily.
