System Logistics implements new high-bay warehouse at Asahi Poznań

With the construction of a modern, automated high-bay warehouse at Asahi Poznań, System Logistics wants to set an example for the future of intralogistics. The project, which is being implemented in close cooperation with a total of twelve specialized partners, is currently in the active construction phase.

The automation of warehouse processes should significantly increase efficiency in the future, shorten throughput times and increase security of supply. At the same time, the project creates the basis for further growth and sustainable development of the entire logistics structure.

15 storage levels, 41,400 pallet spaces

The new high-bay warehouse will have a storage capacity of 41,400 pallet spaces, is designed for pallets with a height of 1,900 millimetres and comprises 15 storage levels. Twelve aisles will accommodate three pallets in width and two in depth per storage compartment. This enables extremely dense storage with high availability of the stored goods.

The maximum storage capacity is 443 pallets per hour, while up to 572 pallets can be retrieved per hour. This is tailored to the various logistical requirements, whether transporting goods from production, supplying order picking or returning empty pallets.

1st milestone in the construction process: start of steel construction

The first milestone was reached in November 2024, when work began on the steel construction. The warehouse is constructed using the silo method, in which the racking structures also serve as the load-bearing structure of the building. This construction method enables space-saving and economical implementation.

Progress in steel construction, fire protection and building envelope

Two-thirds of the steel structure has already been installed. The sprinkler system was also installed at the same time as the steel assembly in order to meet the fire protection requirements. Since mid-April 2025, the roof and wall cladding has been installed, which means that the high-bay warehouse is increasingly taking on its final external appearance. The project is thus becoming increasingly weatherproof and ready for the installation of the technical components inside.

Conveyor systems and 40-meter storage and retrieval machines working together

In the area of conveyor technology, the installation of the first system components has already begun. In future, this technology will play a central role in the internal material flow. It connects the various functional areas of the warehouse, from goods receipt and storage to order picking and dispatch, and ensures the continuous automated movement of goods.

At the same time, the storage and retrieval machines with a height of 40 meters, which will later be responsible for the automatic storage and retrieval of pallets, are currently being installed.
