The wet adhesive tapes are becoming a much sought-after standard solution for tamper-proof, dust-tight and environmentally friendly sealing of corrugated and solid cardboard packaging. They are available in numerous versions and support the implementation of modern supply chains that are based on the principles of sustainability and ecology.

Sustainability is gaining in importance

The sustainability factor plays a decisive role for Schümann in all packaging tape variants. In the unreinforced version, for example, which is suitable for cardboard packaging weighing up to twelve kilograms, a wet adhesive tape consists solely of kraft paper and a coating of potato starch. The coating develops its adhesive effect simply by wetting it sparingly with water, either manually or by machine. Within seconds, this creates a material bond between the cardboard and the wet adhesive tape, which can only be opened destructively - and therefore immediately identified.

The wet adhesive tape acts like a seal: the damage makes the tampering visible and enables "hijacked" parcels to be ejected from the supply chain before they reach the recipient and trigger complaints or insurance claims. In addition to manufacturers of natural products and foodstuffs, suppliers of medical, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and hygiene products in particular value the sealing character of wet adhesive tapes. It is also an advantage when shipping valuable components or documents. Incidentally, no material separation is required when disposing of cardboard packaging and wet adhesive tapes of the same material.

Reinforcement made from natural raw materials

For users with particularly high demands on the stability of carton closures, Schümann offers thread and fiber-reinforced wet adhesive tapes. They are available in numerous variants and are tear-resistant.
