The packaging world looks to Düsseldorf
Hot topics at Interpack 2026
Interpack has been bringing together the global processing and packaging industry in Düsseldorf since May 7, 2026. The focus will be on AI, automation, sustainable materials and new skills requirements.
Interpack positions itself as a central platform for orientation, comparison of concrete solutions and well-founded investment decisions. Population growth, urbanization and changing consumer behaviour are increasing the demand for efficient processing and packaging solutions. At the same time, raw material shortages, regulation, supply chain risks and a shortage of skilled workers are increasing the pressure on companies.
Against this backdrop, the trade fair will focus on specific topics with its hot topics Smart Manufacturing, Innovative Materials and Future Skills. Smart Manufacturing stands for data-based, resource-efficient production - from AI to robotics. Innovative Materials focuses on new packaging materials, functionalities and design-for-recycling concepts. Future Skills addresses the transformation of the world of work and the skills required for increasingly digitalized and automated production.
The global reach is to be emphasized with numerous country pavilions - including: India, USA, China, Taiwan, Korea, Turkey and Malaysia as well as Europe. Accompanying formats such as the Interpack Spotlight Forum with expert discussions, the Start-up Zone for young companies, the presentation of the WorldStar Global Packaging Award, the accompanying components trade fair and Save Food initiatives to reduce food waste will provide in-depth coverage of the key topics. With "Women in Packaging", the focus will also be on the role of women in the industry.
