The solution was implemented for an end customer who required reliable protection for rolls of various dimensions against moisture and contamination, as well as consistent operation with high throughput.

A robot-controlled mandrel gripper integrated by Koch Robotersysteme ensures the precise and controlled transfer of the rolls to the RoRo StretchPack packaging machine, where they are packaged. This combination of robotics and horizontal hood stretch wrapping technology enables stable and precise control when packaging rolls with significant variations in diameter (up to ø850 mm) and length (up to 700 mm).

Designed for the controlled and precise packaging of rolls

The robot-controlled mandrel gripper picks up each roll from the conveyor belt, positions it in a five-sided stretch film that has been prepared in the RoRo StretchPack packaging machine, guides the roll through the packaging machine, and places it on the discharge conveyor belt. The mandrel is released before the film end is finally sealed and is retracted to completely enclose the packaged roll. This solution is particularly useful when conventional conveyor belts are unsuitable or when the products require precise positioning.

Flexible Packaging Solution for Sealed Packages

A key feature of RoRo StretchPack is that it provides fully sealed packaging, with heat-sealed film ends that offer reliable protection against external contaminants. This feature is crucial for sensitive products such as paper, hygiene products, and nonwoven rolls, as it ensures product integrity during storage and transport.

The flexible design of the RoRo StretchPack packaging machine allows it to be seamlessly integrated into a wide variety of infeed and outfeed systems, including robot-controlled mandrel grippers. Thanks to this adaptability, it is possible to create customized packaging lines that meet specific customer requirements.
