Sea rescue christens new boat

Bremen, 09.07.2018 - The German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS) today christened a new lifeboat for the Maasholm volunteer station with the name Hellmut Manthey. The naming ceremony took place on Sunday, July 8. The boat was financed by the Hellmut Manthey Foundation, a foundation set up by the entrepreneur of the same name to support sea rescue.
The approximately nine-metre-long lifeboat was produced at the Finnish specialist shipyard Arctic Airboats. The volunteer sea rescuers from the neighboring stations in Damp, Schleswig and Gelting were also present at the boat launch. The boat is made of robust polyethylene and has two 200 hp outboard engines.
"I christen you Hellmut Manthey and wish you and your crew a safe journey at all times and a happy return home," said 19-year-old godmother Lea Führing, christening the new boat.
