Container throughput rose moderately, primarily thanks to the integration of the Estonian terminal operator HHLA TK Estonia, which was acquired last year. The company recorded a significant increase in container transport.

Together with a strong increase in sales in the Logistics segment and another moderate increase in income from real estate management, this led to sales of 693.7 million euros (+ 9.6%). The operating result (EBIT) rose sharply by 14.4 million euros or 14.4% to 114.3 million euros.

"Sustainability and climate protection an integral part of the business model"

Angela Titzrath, Chairwoman of HHLA's Executive Board, said: "The results achieved in the first half of the year reinforce our expectation that we will achieve our forecast targets for the year as a whole. However, they are only one step on our strategic path to successfully positioning HHLA for the medium and long-term future. In addition to the further development of our core business and the development of additional business fields, sustainability and climate protection are of course an integral part of our business model. We are aware of our responsibility - both for HHLA's economic development and our social responsibility - and have already done a great deal in this regard."
