Official start of construction in Grolsheim: On September 9, Prologis launched the development of a 24,000 square meter logistics property in eastern Rhineland-Palatinate. Guests from business and politics were invited to the start of construction.

Customer demand for logistics space in the region is high. The new property will be the second at the site in Albert-Schweitzer-Straße in Grolsheim. The logistics facility is scheduled for completion in June 2022 and will consist of two units. 25 dock levelers and two ground-level hall entrances will enable future users to handle goods quickly. The logistics facility will be able to operate around the clock, seven days a week.

Growing in Germany
Prologis is developing the property speculatively. "Demand for logistics space remains high," says Björn Thiemann, Senior Vice President, Country Manager Germany at Prologis. "We therefore have a clear focus on growing in Germany in order to offer our customers an even larger portfolio. The development in Grolsheim fits perfectly with our strategy. With the second distribution center, we are strengthening a location where we are already active. We are well networked locally and work together with the community in a spirit of trust. We are therefore particularly pleased that we can lay the foundation stone for a new project in this important economic region."

"In Grolsheim, we are offering future users a property that meets the highest sustainability standards," says Stefan Siegle, Director, Capital Deployment Germany, Prologis. "The property therefore far exceeds the legal requirements. For example, it has LED lighting throughout and a powerful photovoltaic system - these features not only conserve resources, they also reduce future users' operating costs."

Prologis Park Grolsheim, located between Bingen in the north and Bad Kreuznach in the south, is just a two-minute drive from the A60/A61 highway junction - an important link between southern Rhineland-Palatinate and western Rhineland. The location is part of the greater Frankfurt am Main area and therefore one of the most important economic regions in Germany.
