Inland ports: Spionkowski takes over chairmanship of DSLV committee

Berlin, 19.06.2018 - Werner Spionkowski is the new Chairman of the Inland Port Logistics Committee of the German Freight Forwarding and Logistics Association(DSLV). The Managing Director of Ruhrmann Logistik GmbH & Co. KG in Duisburg succeeds Günter Haberland, who has chaired the committee for many years and did not stand for re-election due to his age.

Spionkowski demanded that the political tailwind provided by the development of the master plan for inland navigation should not only focus on the use of the means of transport, but should also accelerate the networking of the players in inland navigation. In addition to shipping companies, terminals and ports, local logistics service providers should also benefit from the planned support measures.

Spionkowski: "Logistics can still leverage the considerable potential of inland shipping."

About the DSLV

The DSLV represents the freight forwarding and logistics industry as well as the transport industry across all modes of transport (road, rail, sea and inland waterway transport as well as air freight), including the organization, provision, control, optimization and securing of processes for the flow of goods along the supply chain. Among other things, the DSLV calls for subsidies and facilitations for road-side pre-carriage and onward carriage not to be limited solely to traditional combined transport with containers and swap bodies.
