Contargo takes over Honkoop Barging
On January 1, 2023, Contargo took over the activities of the Dutch company Honkoop Barging. This includes the management and employees of the inland shipping company as well as the freight contracts and customer contacts.

"This acquisition offers us an interesting opportunity to expand our service portfolio, particularly in the Rotterdam area, Antwerp, the province of Zeeland and Ghent".
Honkoop Barging is a renowned provider of inland shipping services in the ARA port area. Its services include transport within the port of Rotterdam, transport between the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp and numerous daily container liner services between the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp on the one hand and various regions such as Ghent, Vlissingen and Terneuzen on the other.
Following the takeover by Contargo, the activities of Honkoop Barging will be integrated into the existing inland shipping activities in the Benelux countries under the Contargo Transbox brand name.
The current Managing Director of Honkoop Barging, Henri Honkoop, will become Managing Director of Contargo Transbox in Belgium and, alongside Carsten Borchers, will be responsible within Contargo for Contargo Transbox in the Netherlands.
