Amazon settles in the port of Duisburg

Amazon now supplies customers in Duisburg and the Rhine-Ruhr region directly from the Port of Duisburg (duisport). Amazon has rented 9,300 square meters of warehouse space and 1,200 square meters of office and social space on the port site in the Kaßlerfeld district.

Around 100 employees ensure that the goods are delivered to customers with the help of medium-sized forwarding companies engaged by Amazon. Amazon organizes the entire delivery process itself. For Amazon, the good connection of the port of Duisburg to the A3 and A40 is particularly important in order to optimally reach the end consumer in the Rhine-Ruhr region.

"We are very excited to open a distribution center in Duisburg that incorporates more than 20 years of logistics expertise, technological advancements and investments in transportation infrastructure. This enables us to offer customers more and faster delivery options," says Bernd Gschaider, Director of Amazon Logistics in Germany: "Amazon Logistics not only supports local delivery partners in expanding their business, but also provides them with the latest technology for parcel delivery."
