Forklift for aid organization
Jungheinrich donates forklift trucks to Hamburger Tafel
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Jungheinrich AG's Annual General Meeting could not be held as an in-person event this year. As a result, the traditional meal for shareholders following the Annual General Meeting was also canceled. Jungheinrich has now donated the money saved to the Hamburg food bank in the form of a forklift.
"The Hamburger Tafel is an extraordinary institution that people rely on every day. We want to support the important work of the dedicated employees and helpers in these challenging times by donating a forklift truck," explains Dr. Lars Brzoska, CEO of Jungheinrich AG.
The company has been supporting the Hamburger Tafel for many years. Several Jungheinrich trucks are used in the food bank's warehouse. The new EJC 220 electric pedestrian pallet truck can lift loads weighing up to two tons to a lifting height of 4.8 metres. Julia Bauer, member of the board of Hamburger Tafel e.V. says: "It was a great and generous idea of Jungheinrich to use the money saved in this way. We are very grateful for the forklift donation! Especially because more and more people have been coming to the distribution points in recent months, which of course means that the work in the warehouse is also increasing."
The Hamburger Tafel supports people in need with food that is no longer intended for sale. The organization collects this food and supplies social institutions that operate food distribution points. In this way, 30,000 needy people are supplied with food every week.
