Productivity, ergonomics and safety are the key criteria for winning over the market for industrial trucks. Crown's philosophy of "Human Centered Design" is always aimed at operator safety and optimized ergonomics.

According to the company, the customer-oriented development process and close cooperation between designers and engineers as well as safety and ergonomics experts are of crucial importance. This is why the design process begins directly at the truck's future place of use. Before developing the concept, the multidisciplinary development team analyzes the specific needs of the customers, their requirements on site and the work processes of the operators over a long period of time. With this understanding, optimization potential for greater safety and higher productivity can be identified at a very early stage.

Real-time data for greater safety
The increasing connectivity of forklift trucks also makes it possible to provide safety-relevant information in real time to both operators and management. Crown recently launched the ESR 1000 series of reach trucks, which are designed to demonstrate how advanced technology and full connectivity can significantly improve the safety of warehouse applications. Thanks to the new Gena operating system and the integrated InfoLink fleet management system, these trucks are equipped with advanced functions as standard.

The interaction between the two systems makes the truck a reliable partner for the operator. For example, managers can install safety checklists that can be entered quickly and that the operator must complete when logging on to the reach truck. In addition, various pre-programmed safety reminders are randomly displayed during operation. To overcome any language barriers, both the checklists and the reminders appear on the truck's display in the form of easy-to-understand graphics. Even more safety awareness is provided by an on-the-fly training system that Crown calls "Dynamic Coaching". It acts like a virtual trainer, accompanying the operator in his daily work, praising him for correct behavior and pointing out errors precisely when they occur. The Crown ESR 1000 series was recently awarded the International Intralogistics and Forklift Truck of the Year (IFOY) Award 2020 for its solutions.
