Autonomous Forklift in the ABB Robotics Portfolio
With the new Flexley Stack F712 autonomous forklift, ABB Robotics is expanding its portfolio of mobile robots. The system is designed to automate material flow and intralogistics processes more efficiently and flexibly using AI-powered Visual SLAM navigation.
ABB Robotics is expanding its portfolio of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) with the Flexley Stack F712 forklift. The new AMR is based on AI-powered Visual SLAM navigation and expands the existing ecosystem of tugs and transport robots. This enables companies to automate various material flow and intralogistics processes on a single platform.
“In intralogistics, companies must move ever-larger volumes of goods in ever-shorter periods of time—and do so with limited personnel and financial resources,” emphasizes Marc Segura, President of ABB Robotics. “At the same time, pressure is mounting to make material flows faster and more flexible, while the shortage of skilled workers is increasingly becoming a bottleneck. In line with our journey toward autonomous and versatile robotics (AVR), the Flexley Stack F712 combines advanced computer vision, intelligent navigation, and autonomous mobility in a single system. This completes our scalable, AI-powered AMR portfolio.”
The F712 can handle loads of up to 2,000 kilograms and reach lifting heights of up to 8.5 meters. It is suitable for applications such as warehousing and order picking, supplying production lines, end-of-line applications, and use in the automotive industry.
Thanks to Visual-SLAM, the robot autonomously maps its surroundings and requires no additional infrastructure such as markers or guide lines. According to ABB, the system achieves a positioning accuracy of ±10 millimeters and, when used in conjunction with the AMR Studio software, reduces commissioning time by up to 20 percent. In addition, the F712 supports the VDA 5050 industry standard and can be operated as part of a fleet alongside other ABB mobile robots and existing systems.
