Utility vehicles: Transport company Sass-Trans files for insolvency

Appenweier, 01.09.2017 - Sass-Trans GmbH, based in Appenweier, has filed for insolvency. However, the transport company's business operations will continue unchanged. The provisional insolvency administrator Stefano Buck from Schultze & Braun (photo) is currently gaining an overview of the company's economic situation and examining restructuring options. The 92 employees are covered by insolvency benefits up to and including October.

According to the company, the reason for the economic difficulties is the rapid growth from a turnover of around 800,000 euros in 2015 to an expected turnover of well over three million euros in the current financial year.

"Sass-Trans has acquired numerous new orders in recent months and years. To do so, the company had to invest in new employees and vehicles. At the same time, the internal cost structures could not be adapted quickly enough to the strong growth. This was compounded by losses in the parcel delivery division. Both put a strain on liquidity and ultimately led to the application," explains the provisional insolvency administrator appointed by Offenburg Local Court.

Buck has already visited the site in person and informed the workforce about the process. The primary goal is to stabilize business operations. "Based on my initial impressions, I am confident that we will succeed in finding a solution. The aim is to preserve the site and as many jobs as possible," said Buck afterwards.
