Prof. Dr. Uwe Baake, Head of Development Mercedes-Benz Trucks, accepted the prestigious award during the press days of the International Commercial Vehicle Show for Road & Urban Transport Solutions (Solutrans) in Lyon.

Actros impresses with technical innovations
According to the jury rules, the title is awarded annually to the truck that has made the greatest contribution to innovations for road transportation in terms of economy, emissions, safety, drivability and comfort. The flagship of Mercedes-Benz Trucks scores points above all with its inner values: with innovations such as the Multimedia Cockpit, MirrorCam instead of exterior mirrors, semi-automated driving with Active Drive Assist or further developed safety systems such as the fifth generation of Active Brake Assist and the further improved Turn Assist, the new Mercedes-Benz Actros provides answers in particular to issues such as safety, efficiency and comfort.

Predictive cruise control
The IToY journalists praised the extended functions of the Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC) cruise control on winding long-distance routes as well as the fully digital Multimedia Cockpit, which has replaced the conventional instrument cluster in the new Actros.

The Chairman of the International Jury, Gianenrico Griffini, summarized the jury vote: "With the introduction of the new Actros, Mercedes-Benz has put a state-of-the-art truck on the road that paves the way for the automated driving of the future."

Prof. Dr. Uwe Baake said at the award ceremony in Lyon: "We are very happy and proud that the Truck of the Year jury has honored our efforts of the last years and months with this award. Thank you on behalf of the company and the entire team. This will spur us on to continue to give our best and meet the highest standards in the development of our trucks, especially when it comes to future topics such as electromobility, automated driving and the digitalization of the industry."
