MAN Truck & Bus presents new truck generation
For the first time in 20 years, MAN Truck & Bus is presenting a comprehensively redeveloped truck generation. It is consistently geared towards the changing needs of the transport industry and aims to score points with assistance systems, driver orientation and digital networking.
With fuel savings of up to eight percent, the new truck generation achieves a significantreduction in CO2 emissions. The newly developed cornering aid helps to prevent serious accidents in urban traffic - four years before the legally required introduction. The lane change aid warns the driver of vehicles in adjacent lanes. MAN has involved customers and drivers in the development of the new truck generation right from the start in order to consistently incorporate their requirements into the new vehicle.
The requirements in all areas of the transport industry are now more diverse and complex than ever, and forecasts for the future suggest that the fundamental transformation of the industry is in full swing. This brings with it major challenges: transport volumes within the EU alone are set to increase by a further 40 percent over the next 20 years, while at the same time strict legal requirements for the reduction ofCO2 emissions envisage a drop of 15 percent by 2025 and a further reduction of 30 percent by 2030. This is exacerbated by the growing shortage of drivers. According to current statistics, there will be a shortage of around 150,000 qualified professional drivers in Germany alone over the next two years. In addition, the ever-increasing digitalization of all logistics processes is setting an enormous pace for transport companies.
"Our customers rightly expect us to provide them with answers to these questions," says MAN CEO Joachim Drees. "We have to be one step ahead of these changes for them, with all their direct and indirect consequences. This is a huge, but at the same time extremely exciting task. Because it means that we as manufacturers have to think about our products in different, new dimensions. This is what we are doing with our new generation of trucks.
