In a virtual ceremony, Andreas Tostmann, CEO of MAN Truck & Bus, accepted the coveted award from ITOY President Gianenrico Griffini. The jury of 24 trade journalists representing the 24 most important European truck trade magazines recognized the new MAN TGX as particularly advanced in terms of driving comfort, working and living quality, safety, fuel efficiency, connectivity, innovative services and operating and display philosophy.

"The title 'International Truck of the Year' is a great recognition of the outstanding work of our MAN team. For more than five years, the team has worked towards just one goal: to develop the best truck for drivers and our customers and get it on the road. This coveted award reflects back to us: goal achieved," said a delighted Andreas Tostmann, Chairman of the Executive Board of MAN Truck & Bus, at the virtual award ceremony.

Since February 2020, the members of the jury for the "International Truck of the Year Award" (ITOY) have had the opportunity to get to know the new MAN TGX extensively. In addition to driving comfort, it scored points at the driver's workplace with the easy readability of the fully digital display instruments and the intuitive operation of driving and multimedia functions using the new, generously adjustable multifunction steering wheel and the innovative, low-distraction turn-and-push control function of the MAN SmartSelect.

The ITOY judges also rated the living quality of the new cab positively. During the test drives, they were also impressed by the particular efficiency of the Euro 6d driveline of the new MAN TGX, which, in combination with the aerodynamic development of the cab design and the even more predictive MAN EfficientCruise GPS cruise control, enables fuel savings of up to 8.2 percent compared to the previous version. The jury also praised the high level of safety, which, with systems such as the radar-based turning and lane change assistance, the lane return assistant or assisted driving in traffic jams, both relieves the driver and contributes significantly to the safety of other road users. Last but not least, the new MAN TGX presented itself to the ITOY experts as being particularly future-oriented thanks to its connectivity, which is unique in the commercial vehicle sector due to its electronic architecture and the associated range of digital services.

"The new MAN TGX represents a major step forward in terms of driver comfort, fuel efficiency, connectivity and ease of display and operation. It is very clear why the new MAN TGX was chosen as Truck of the Year 2021. It is an absolutely future-oriented truck that meets the transport needs of today and tomorrow," said ITOY President Gianenrico Griffini, summarizing the verdict of the jury members at the award ceremony. In accordance with the rules of the International Truck of the Year, the annual award is presented to the new truck launched in the last 12 months that has made the greatest contribution to the sustainable development of road freight transport. The assessment criteria are technical innovations and further developments, but also innovations for overall economy, safety and environmental relief.
