Group strategy: Daimler is positioning itself for the future
Stuttgart, 02.08.2018 - The Board of Management and Supervisory Board of Daimler AG have given their approval to the new Group structure of Daimler AG. Initial preparations were already made in 2017 to bundle the Group's passenger car and van business as well as the truck and bus business into legally independent units.
The new Group strategy envisages three legally independent units under the umbrella of Daimler AG: Mercedes-Benz AG, Daimler Truck AG and Daimler Mobility AG. Daimler wants to give its divisions more entrepreneurial freedom, become even more market- and customer-oriented and facilitate possible cooperations.
Manfred Bischoff, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Daimler AG: "With the new organizational structure, Daimler is positioning itself for the rapid changes in the mobility industry and the associated strategic challenges. The future legally independent divisions will sharpen our focus for the economic success of the future."
Following the positive resolutions passed by the Management Board and Supervisory Board, the company can now implement the project called "PROJECT FUTURE". The individual implementation steps are to take place in 2018 and 2019 on the basis of economic and technical criteria. In the next step, the measures resolved by the executive bodies require the approval of the shareholders. A presentation on this is to be made at the Annual General Meeting of Daimler AG in 2019. mm
