Extinguishing container
Fliegl presents mobile extinguishing container for e-cars
Fliegl has developed the Gladiator mobile extinguishing container for fighting fires in damaged electric vehicles. The new development is also the first step towards emergency vehicles in road traffic - somewhat removed from classic commercial vehicle construction.
"I have been observing developments in e-mobility in the car sector for some time now. I am also becoming increasingly aware of the associated risks," explains entrepreneur Helmut Fliegl, who has settled in Thuringia. "We keep hearing about electric cars catching fire. The resulting dangers in road traffic are immense. They can be prevented. How? - I worked that out with my son Maxi. The Fliegl Gladiator is the result of our joint work, where we benefit fully from our experience in commercial vehicle construction."
The Fliegl Gladiator is extremely fire-resistant thanks to the use of particularly hard steels. Equipped with a hydraulic moving floor, additional crane superstructure and barbs that protect against sliding movements, the Gladiator can rescue any conventional car on fire. This eliminates the need for additional and dangerous strapping of vehicles that are already on fire. It has sufficient space for all standard car models.
Quickly at the scene
This tandem trailer solution gets to the source of the fire quickly in all kinds of road conditions. Fliegl's extinguishing container is designed in such a way that it can be driven as a trailer by trucks, tractors and hook lift vehicles. The Gladiator can therefore be used not only by municipal and professional fire departments, but also by small municipalities or the THW.
8,000 liter water supply
With its own water supply of 8,000 liters, the lithium-ion battery of electric cars can be oxygen-sealed in a completely protected environment. A fire in a "conventional" car can also be extinguished with the Galdiator. Three tanks integrated into the vehicle completely fill the watertight Gladiator within 10 minutes. The tanks also have additional pumps and filters for water purification so that the fire departments can fill and empty the tanks without any problems using their own hydrants.
