Daimler Truck & Bus: CO2-neutral in triad markets by 2039
Daimler Trucks & Buses aims to only offer new vehicles in the triad markets of Europe, Japan and NAFTA by 2039 that are carbon dioxide-neutral in operation ("tank-to-wheel").
By 2022, the vehicle portfolio of Daimler Trucks & Buses in the main sales regions of Europe, the USA and Japan will already include series-produced vehicles with battery-electric drive systems. By the end of the next decade, Daimler Trucks & Buses will also add hydrogen-powered series vehicles to its vehicle range.
Premiere of "Vision F-Cell
Just this week, Daimler Trucks & Buses celebrated the world premiere of the "Vision F-Cell" fuel cell prototype from the FUSO brand at the Tokyo Motor Show in Japan, thereby strengthening its activities in the field of hydrogen. In addition, all European plants of Daimler Trucks & Buses are to be carbon dioxide neutral by 2022. All other plants are to follow.
Martin Daum: "The first manufacturer to consistently commit to e-mobility for heavy trucks"
Martin Daum, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG responsible for Trucks and Buses, said today during his keynote speech at the German Logistics Congress in Berlin: "At Daimler Trucks & Buses, we are clearly committed to the goals of the Paris Climate Protection Agreement and thus to the decarbonization of our industry. CO2-neutral transportation on the roads by 2050 is our ultimate goal. This can only be achieved if competitive conditions for CO2-neutral transport are created for our customers in terms of costs and infrastructure. As a complete fleet renewal by 2050 will take around ten years, our ambition is to offer completely 'tank-to-wheel' locally CO2-neutral new vehicles in the triad by 2039. Truly locally CO2-neutral transportation only works with battery-electric drives or on the basis of hydrogen. We were the first manufacturer to consistently commit to electromobility for heavy-duty trucks and are now a pioneer in all segments. In the bus sector, we are already making a significant contribution to locally emission-free public transport of the future and air pollution control in conurbations with our holistic e-mobility approach consisting of an electric city bus and consulting."
Global e-truck portfolio
Daimler Trucks has been gaining experience with electric trucks since 2010 and has had its first small-series all-electric truck on the market and in customer hands since 2017: the Fuso eCanter. More than 140 eCanter trucks are already in use by customers in cities around the world, including New York City, Tokyo, Berlin, London, Amsterdam, Paris and Lisbon. The Mercedes-Benz eActros with a range of up to 200 km is also being used intensively by customers in Germany and Switzerland as part of the eActros "innovation fleet".
