BPW presents solutions for networked transportation
The NUFAM commercial vehicle trade fair will be held in Karlsruhe from September 26 to 29. One of the trending topics is the networking of freight, drivers and vehicles. The BPW Group will be showcasing solutions that make transportation more efficient, safer and more environmentally friendly.
In Karlsruhe, for example, BPW will be exhibiting the multi-award-winning 'iGurt', a smart load securing system that displays the pre-tensioning force of the tensioning strap when lashing the freight and continuously monitors it during the journey. The handy sensor solves a problem: inadequate load securing is considered the main cause of transport damage amounting to 1.2 billion euros - as well as 25 to 30 percent of traffic accidents in heavy goods traffic.
The new "AirSave" system is also a benefit for safety, the environment and cost efficiency. It regulates the tire pressure fully automatically and thus prevents dangerous tire blowouts and premature wear. AirSave pays for itself in the first year: for a three-axle vehicle with a mileage of 120,000 kilometers per year and an average pressure deviation of 10 percent, transport companies save more than 700 euros per year through fuel savings (around 250 liters) and the longer service life of the tires. This does not include the savings in time, nerves, vehicle and delivery downtime. As a result, a three-axle vehicle with the AirSave system saves the environment 655 kilos ofCO2 per year - and the roadside from the remains of burst tires.
TC Track & Trace, the heart of which is a mini telematics box, makes it possible to network vehicles and freight. The system enables freight forwarders to locate their vehicles and identify the estimated time of arrival. The device does not require a power connection, SIM card or antenna. In this way, even expensive load carriers, construction vehicles or other costly assets can be located and tracked.
