Smart interfaces

With the help of interface technologies, companies receive applicable and cost-efficient solutions that make smooth cross-system and cross-process work a reality. One example of this is the cooperation between Timocom, translogica and Quehenberger Logistics.

With 250 of its own vehicles and 520,000 m² of warehouse and logistics space, Quehenberger Logistics focuses on optimal capacity utilization, efficient control and automation. As a long-standing partner, translogica supports Quehenberger with the handling of internal logistics processes with its transport document management system (TDMS) "translogica". These were to become leaner, more transparent and, above all, automated. A smooth exchange between translogica and Timocom's Smart Logistics System was required - with the help of interfaces. "Our companies are united by the aspiration to be pioneers in terms of digitalization. This has significantly strengthened our decision to rely on Timocom for the use of interfaces," says Christian Fürstaller, CEO & Managing Partner of Quehenberger Freight GmbH.

Interfaces with intuitive handling
Three Timocom interfaces were implemented in translogica to enable both systems to communicate smoothly with each other. This allows Quehenberger Logistics to use both at the same time - without media discontinuity, without loss of time, but automated and optimized. The Freight Exchange interface transfers freight and loading space offers from TDMS to the Smart Logistics System. The result: avoidance of duplicate entries and transmission errors as well as increased time, cost and work efficiency. The reach immediately increases to over 43,000 potential business partners throughout Europe.

The transport orders interface, for example, sends the necessary documents completely digitally and in a legally binding manner and enables direct order acceptance. The interface automatically documents all status changes in the system. It also initiates the archiving of relevant (master) data. The Tracking interface sends current GPS data of the vehicles approved for tracking to the client in real time. In addition, the aggregated information from 256 common telematics providers is displayed to users on their familiar user interface. The software users can also compare the GPS data supplied by translogica with the previously agreed delivery time in the planning software. "Our interfaces ensure that everyday hurdles that have arisen due to the parallel use of multiple systems are overcome," confirms Steven van Cauteren, Head of Key Account & Partner Management at Timocom.

The conclusion
"The agile approach of all partners has resulted in a perfect symbiosis, which has already generated excellent results in short development intervals," says Hansjörg Haller, CEO of translogica, describing the cooperation. In addition, it has created added value that is clearly noticeable in Quehenberger's logistics processes. By using the freight exchange, transport orders and tracking interfaces, the transport process flows automatically and no longer comes to a standstill at crucial points.
