Manufacturer-independent software orchestrates robotics fleets

Gessmann is presenting a new approach to industrial automation together with Wandelbots at Hannover Messe 2026 (Hall 16, Stand B10/1). The focus is on the coordination and integration of different robot systems in existing production and intralogistics environments.

For the first time, an end-to-end solution that combines planning, simulation and operation will be on show. It is based on the NOVA platform from Wandelbots, which is directly integrated into Gessmann's mobile robot systems. In addition, simulation technologies are used to realistically test and validate automation scenarios.

"Together, these integrated solutions enable automation solutions to be designed, simulated, deployed and scaled much faster. This reduces the integration effort, shortens the payback period and avoids being tied to a specific provider in complex brownfield environments," explains Steffen Kuhnle, Head of the Robotics division at Gessmann.

A key advantage of the approach is the manufacturer-independent software level, which makes different robot types programmable and controllable in a standardized way. "This is exactly where the collaboration with Wandelbots comes in. The NOVA platform creates a manufacturer-independent software level that allows different robot types to be programmed and orchestrated. This creates an integrated system instead of isolated individual solutions," explains Martin Wanitschke, Chief of Staff at Wandelbots.

This approach offers clear advantages for brownfield environments in particular. Existing production and logistics systems can continue to be used and can be expanded in a targeted manner without extensive conversion measures. The combination of GESSbot and the NOVA platform enables the modular integration of new robotics solutions into existing infrastructures.
