"chainPORT" hackathon
Ideas for the port of the future
From October 11 to 13, the first chainPORT Hackathon took place in the ports of Antwerp and Los Angeles. Working in teams, the participants tried to find creative solutions to the local and global challenges facing the port of tomorrow.
The aim was to find solutions for issues such as mobility, security, sustainability and data exchange between the world's ports. The participants from the worlds of business and academia spent two days and nights tackling the challenges. The team from Rombit was delighted to take first place. The participants developed a solution to optimize the specified Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA). The chainPORT hackathon also took place in parallel in Antwerp and Los Angeles. Erwin Verstraelen, Chief Digital and Innovation Officer of the Antwerp Port Authority, emphasizes: "Innovation is a powerful tool in this fast-changing world. As a global player, the Port of Antwerp strives to play a pioneering role in the development of innovative concepts in the long term.
