Ludger van Bebber becomes new boss at Dortmund Airport

Ludger van Bebber (pictured right) is to become the new Managing Director of Flughafen Dortmund GmbH. This was decided by the shareholders' meeting on March 13. The 56-year-old industrial engineer will move from Weeze Airport, where he has been in charge since September 2004, to Airport21 in Dortmund-Wickede in late summer 2020, where he will succeed Udo Mager, who is retiring for health reasons.

With their decision, the shareholders followed the selection by a four-member search committee and the recommendation of the Supervisory Board. "We scrutinized a number of candidates very carefully and are deeply convinced that we have found the best possible solution in Ludger van Bebber," says Guntram Pehlke. As CEO of the airport's parent company DSW21 and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the airport, Pehlke also chaired the search committee. It also included the Supervisory Board members Thomas Stegmann, also Chairman of the Airport Works Council, Hendrik Berndsen (SPD) and Manfred Sauer (CDU).

"Ludger van Bebber has exactly the qualities and qualifications needed to continue the extraordinarily successful work of Udo Mager," says Guntram Pehlke. The future Managing Director is "a profound expert in the aviation industry" who has "a lot of experience and a large network". Van Bebber had "guided Weeze Airport through very difficult times" and - increasingly important at Airport21 - also successfully developed the non-aviation business. Thanks to years of cooperation at the association level, the new man knows the Dortmund
issues and can "hit the ground running".
