Dematic automates at Siedle

Dematic installs an AutoStore system in the logistics center of S. Siedle & Söhne Telefon- und Telegrafenwerke OHG in Furtwangen. This will automate the storage and picking of products and components that Siedle either delivers directly to its customers in the field of building communication technology or processes in its own production facilities.

The AutoStore system replaces the previous automated small parts warehouse (AKL) at the Furtwangen site. The articles are stored in a storage block consisting of 12,400 containers. Seven robots, which travel on the surface, can access any container. The bins are then transported to the work stations, where the items are picked.

Expansion unnecessary thanks to AutoStore system
"Thanks to the compact design, we don't need to expand our logistics center. Instead, AutoStore adapts to the structural conditions on site," says Richard Rutschmann, Managing Director Technology at S. Siedle & Söhne.

The system is controlled and operated automatically via the SAP WM warehouse management software from Siedle. To map all functionalities, the system is based on the SAP template solution from Dematic. This means that all relevant data flows together automatically in one system.
