The software offers intuitive operation and functions such as a collaborative, cloud-based library that enables users to share app templates. According to the provider, this allows setup times to be reduced by up to 80%.

The software is compatible with all ABB robots running on the 'OmniCore' control platform and offers flexibility and simplicity in creating customized, graphical user interfaces for robots. After installing the software, users can reuse a previously used setup or select templates, models, blocks and examples from a cloud-based library - in twenty available languages. In addition, individual user interfaces can be created for any device and application, including the OmniCore 'FlexPendant' handheld control unit, tablets and cell phones.

The software also supports customers in migrating from the 'IRC5' control system to the OmniCore platform and reduces the time required to create new graphical user interfaces from days to minutes. According to the provider, configuration is particularly easy thanks to the intuitive drag-and-drop functionality: icons, drop-down menus, buttons and other functions can be added with ease. Advanced users can create user-defined interface elements using a JavaScript-based modular system, which enables a high degree of customization. These elements can in turn be shared with other users to improve collaboration on projects. Once a user interface has been created, it can be transferred to the ABB robot or a digital twin using the 'RobotStudio' programming software. This connection allows the robot to be programmed to execute specific commands, such as performing a specific movement or opening a gripper. AppStudio is available as a free download from the ABB website.
