In response to rising demand, logistics companies and rail operators are increasingly expanding their hinterland services. At the beginning of the year, Schweizerzug AG stepped up its services between Switzerland and Belgium. The company now connects Frenkendorf near Basel and Antwerp with four round trips per week instead of the previous two. The Antwerp-TriRegio-Express rail company has also been transporting containers between Antwerp and Basel Bad station (Ubf) twice a week since January 22.

"The port is not just a hub for imports and exports. We are also a reliable partner for the entire supply chain. This includes working together with logistics companies, rail operators, terminals and ports in the hinterland on sustainable and future-proof solutions. As the port authority, we are very happy to make our expertise available here," explains Luc Arnouts, Director International Networks at Antwerp Port Authority.
