Hamburg Süd expands business
Hamburg Süd is now represented exclusively by its own offices in Italy and Spain. Previously, business there was handled in part by agents and joint venture organizations. In Egypt, too, the company recently took over full management of the Hamburg Süd organization.
"We are thus investing in markets that are traditionally strategically important for Hamburg Süd in the Mediterranean region," explains Poul Hestbaek, General Manager of Hamburg Süd Region Europe. "With our own organizations, we will be able to offer shippers in these countries the customer proximity that is typical of Hamburg Süd and guarantee a better and more flexible service."
The new Hamburg Süd organization commenced operations at the headquarters in Genoa at the beginning of January, with additional branches in Livorno and Salerno. Gianluca Sussone heads Hamburg Süd Italia.
The headquarters of the new organization in Spain is located in Barcelona. In addition to an existing branch in Valencia, further new branches in Bilbao, Vigo and Madrid will look after local customers and acquire new business. The head of Hamburg Süd Iberia is Juan Pedro Alfaro.
The new Hamburg Süd office in Egypt is based in Alexandria, including a connected depot serving all Maersk brands. Another branch office is located in Cairo. Port offices are also maintained in Port Said and Damietta. The manager in Egypt is Prashant Poduval.
