Gebrüder Weiss benefits from photovoltaics
The transport company Gebrüder Weiss is focusing on sustainable energy generation: at its Maria Lanzendorf site near Vienna, Gebrüder Weiss has leased the roofs of its handling and logistics warehouses to a solar energy company.
Since the beginning of the year, around 2.4 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year have been generated there on an area of 21,500 square meters. "Sustainability is one of the core values at Gebrüder Weiss. In addition to economic efficiency, ecological considerations were therefore also a decisive factor in the decision to rent out the flat roofs. Their size makes them ideal for photovoltaic systems," says Karl Meiringer, branch manager in Maria Lanzendorf.
Further plants in Austria and southern Germany
Gebrüder Weiss is also promoting solar energy at other locations: in Austria alone, three further plants are operated in Kennelbach, Maria Saal and Wels, as well as two further plants in Memmingen in southern Germany.
