Getac works with pureLiFi on the wireless device of the future
Getac, manufacturer of ruggedized tablets and PCs for the military, manufacturing and automotive sectors, has announced its collaboration with pureLiFi, the global leader in Li-Fi (Light Fidelity) technology, to jointly evaluate the possibilities of this innovative technology for future wireless devices.
LiFi enables extremely fast data transmission using light signals without radio waves and by adjusting the intensity slightly. This results in a high-speed internet connection that is much more secure and reliable and also offers an enormous data density that far exceeds the previous capacities of conventional wireless communication technologies such as Wi-Fi.
For the military, automotive and manufacturing sectors, safety and reliability are critical to operations. Getac, as a guarantor for the application of the latest technologies, consistently provides its customers with reliable, innovative solutions for overcoming business challenges and securing and increasing their productivity. Compared to other wireless applications, LiFi is significantly more secure and virtually interference-free. With the introduction of LiFi technology, Getac customers will soon be able to benefit from the security and reliability of a wired network with the flexibility of a wireless solution.
"Our partnership with pureLiFi will put Getac at the forefront of the rugged device segment. By unlocking the potential of the next generation of transmission technologies, we are also strengthening our commitment to customers working in extremely harsh and demanding environments," said Amanda Ward, Director of EMEA Products and Solutions at Getac. "We look forward to helping this highly innovative technology achieve breakthroughs to create even safer and more reliable products that further optimize both productivity and safety in the workplace."
"Aligned with our strategy to provide LiFi for every device and light source, pureLiFi launched components for integration into mobile devices in 2019," said Nikola Serafimovski, VP of Standardization and Business Development at pureLiFi. "As a leading provider of rugged devices within key industries that will benefit tremendously from LiFi development, Getac is now embracing this strategy. As a result, Getac will be the first company to incorporate LiFi technology into its product portfolio and offer its customers an unprecedented offering in terms of security, reliability and bandwidth."
