Major order
BMW Group opts for Getac
With the BMW Group, Getac has gained another automotive manufacturer as a customer. From now on, a wide range of robust and semi-rugged devices will be used in research and development, vehicle testing, production, warehouse logistics and workshops worldwide.
Getac was already commissioned by the BMW Group six years ago and supplied robust devices for carrying out vehicle and application tests. Now the cooperation has been renewed: Getac has received a major order from the BMW Group. In particular, the order is for rugged notebooks and tablets from the S410, V110, F110, A140, UX10 and T800 series, which will be used in the areas of research and development, production, warehouse logistics and workshops within the BMW Group's global network.
In order to provide tailor-made solutions for the complex requirements of the BMW Group, Getac has individually adapted its devices to the respective requirements of the various user groups of the global company. In the areas of development and research, for example, security and the protection of sensitive data are crucial. In logistics, when using the internal order picking system BVIS, the clear Getac 14-inch display for the immediate recording of all important data is just as indispensable as the ability to record and manage this data immediately via barcode or RFID.
All notebooks and tablets offer high reliability and high computing speed for handling complex tasks. They are also insensitive to water and dust and certified to IP52 to IP65 for use in harsh environments to meet the high quality standards of the automotive industry.
At the BMW Group, the semi-rugged S410 notebook scores highly in international vehicle diagnostics: For immediate access to diagnostic data and fast vehicle tests, it offers wireless and wired connectivity and, thanks to the LumiBond 2.0 touchscreen technology developed by Getac, enables readability even in direct sunlight. The different touch modes allow easy handling in the rain, glove or pen operation.
"The particular challenge in working with the BMW Group was the wide range of planned applications. Each one has specific requirements for the devices that had to be met," explains Rick Hwang, President of Rugged & Video Solutions Business Group at Getac. "We are therefore delighted that BMW has chosen Getac solutions and that the BMW Global Digital Solutions team has already been able to achieve such remarkable success in process optimization worldwide with the help of our devices."
Eric Yeh, Director Sales and Operations at Getac Technology GmbH, says: "We are very proud of this repeat order from the BMW Group. This is another great success for us, especially as it is also recognition of our constant efforts to provide our customers with the best possible support and meet their expectations."
