11-million-dollar investment
Second Interroll plant in Atlanta starts operations
Interroll has completed construction of its second facility at the company's Hiram site near Atlanta, Georgia. The USD 11 million investment will increase Interroll's manufacturing capacity for orders from the Americas region.
"We have increased our capacity to ensure short project lead times for our customers and end users in the North American market in the coming years," says Richard Keely, Executive Vice President of the Americas region and member of the Interroll Group Management Board. "We continue to see high demand for our conveyor and sorter solutions. For this reason, we have expanded our production area and at the same time created several new assembly cells, which are characterized by particularly high efficiency and flexibility."
The new building offers 9,300m2 of production and storage space as well as around 2,300m2 of office space. It also includes training facilities, a Kaizen room and employee facilities such as a fitness room. The new building offers production lines for the Modular Conveyor Platform (MCP) and for all sorters, including the new crossbelt sorter HPCS, as well as for sorter chutes. A production line for the Modular Pallet Conveyor Platform (MPP) is also to be built here in the near future.
"In recent months, capacity has become an increasingly important issue in the market as supply chains have come under pressure due to coronavirus lockdowns and other restrictions. During this difficult time, new opportunities have continued to arise for us thanks to our commitment to enabling short lead times," says Keely. "Our team is fully committed to maintaining this excellence as part of Interroll's Climate of Excellence, and we look forward to impressing even more customers with our delivery performance in the future."
